Ferry Construction & Excavation is a St. Joseph, MO company. We started the business doing excavation work and grew it into full construction, and St. Joseph is still where the equipment lives and where we keep closest tabs on the job sites.
St. Joseph sits on the Missouri River, with I-29 on the east side of town and US-36 running through it. That puts most of the city and the county within easy reach, whether the address is a few blocks from downtown or well out on a gravel road. We don't treat those as different kinds of customers. Excavation is still the core of the business
The name says excavation and construction for a reason. Before framing starts on a new build, before a fence line gets set, before a deck gets its footings, there's usually a step where dirt has to move. We run a compact excavator for grading, trenching, and cutting in a pad or a foundation line, and that same machine handles drainage problems on older lots where water pools against a foundation or won't clear a low spot in the yard.
Because the excavation and the building crew are the same people, there's no handoff between the company that digs and the company that builds. The same crew that grades the lot is back later setting trusses. See more of our dirt work in the project gallery.

Remodeling work for older homes
A good share of St. Joseph's housing has some age on it, with bathrooms and floors that haven't been touched since the house was built. We take bathrooms down to the studs, fix the framing underneath, and rebuild them with a tile surround and a new tub, along with flooring replacement and general interior carpentry.
