New home construction and framing grew out of the excavation work Ferry Construction & Excavation started with, and the two sides never really separated.
Because we already handle site work, a new build doesn't wait on an outside company to cut the pad or dig the footings. The same people grading the lot are the ones setting the walls. That covers homeowners building a new house, builders who need a framing crew, and property owners who just need an addition, a garage or a shop framed and closed in. Work runs from St. Joseph out through the Northland and across the Kansas City metro.
New home construction and framing we take on
- New homes. Framed from the ground up, trusses set, sheathed, wrapped and closed in.
- Additions. Tying new framing into an existing house so the addition reads as part of the home, not a box stuck on the side.
- Garages and shops. Standalone buildings framed and roofed for storage, a workshop or parking.
- Interior wall framing. Laying out and framing interior walls once the shell is closed in.
- Site work bundled in. Pad grading and footing digging as the opening piece of the build, covered under excavation and grading.

Garages and shops framed on a slab
A garage or shop starts the same way a house does: walls framed square and plumb on the slab, then we set the roof trusses on top. It's the same framing approach whether the building stands next to a house or on its own on a rural lot.
How a build comes together
- You call or text. Tell us what you're picturing, a new house, an addition, a shop, and send photos of the property if you have them.
- We talk through the plan. What's being built, where it sits on the lot, and what the site needs before framing can start.
- Site work and footings. The pad gets cut and graded and footings get dug, so the foundation has solid, level ground to sit on.
- Framing and trusses go up. Walls, roof trusses and sheathing, the shell of the building takes shape fast once this stage starts.
- Wrap, siding and roof close it in. House wrap, siding and the roof go on, and the building stops being weather-dependent to work inside.
- Trim, porch and walk-through. Finish details go on, the porch gets built out, and we walk the finished structure with you before calling it done.
What drives the cost
Size of the build is the obvious factor, but it isn't the only one. Roof complexity changes how long framing takes: a simple gable roof frames faster than one with multiple pitches and valleys. Site conditions matter before the first wall ever goes up: a lot that needs heavy grading costs more to prep than one that's already flat and clear. And how finished the interior needs to be affects labor: a shell framed for someone else to finish is a different scope than a home framed and closed all the way to trim. We'll walk through your plans and the site before pricing anything.

Questions about building with us
Do you build the whole house or just frame it?
Depends what you need. We can carry a build from site work through framing, wrap, siding and roof, or come in strictly as the framing crew on a project someone else is running.
Can you frame a garage or shop without a full home build?
Yes, we frame garages and shops on their own, not just as add-ons to a house build.
Do you handle the site work too, or do I need to hire that separately?
We handle it. Grading the pad and digging footings is covered under our own excavation work, so it's one crew instead of two schedules to coordinate.
How involved do I need to be during framing?
As involved as you want. Some people check in at each stage, others want a call when it's time for the walk-through. Either way works.
Can you add a room onto an existing house?
Yes, we frame additions, tying new framing into the existing structure so it reads as one house.
What roof styles can you frame?
The home in our photos has trusses under a metal roof, and we can talk through what roof style fits your plans and your budget.
